Building Your Network: In Person and Online

The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce hosted the Inaugural Fort Bend County Women’s Initiative at Kelsey Seybold, Sugarland. The Fort Bend community welcomed the GHWCC, and looks forward to hosting many more events throughout the year. Irene Helsinger, Newport Board Group and Ann Cook, Kelsey Seybold co-chaired the exciting event, and Pam Vinje, Small Screen Producers, presented the educational and insightful program “Living in a Multi-Screen World.”

Jessica Brach, Events Coordinator for Uchi Restaurant, is a native Houstonian born into the restaurant industry. Her father owned a French restaurant in Humble called Chez Nous which she began working at, at the age of 5, and has now spent 31 years in the industry . Jessica says "The biggest obstacle I’ve had to overcome in my life was the ever-lingering question, ‘What will I do with my life?’ Eventually I had to stop worrying about what I was going to do with the rest of my life and just focus on the fact that I am absolutely in love with Uchi and at home here.

Pearl Fincher, Philanthropist and Texas Woman Who Made History

Native Texan Pearl Lilley Fincher was born in 1935. She grew up as one of 11 kids to a Baptist preacher and a homemaker in Splendora, TX.  They were extremely poor with most of her siblings and their families staying in the cycle of poverty.  Pearl wanted more.   When she and her husband met and married, between the two of them they had $60 in the bank and working 2 jobs each.  Together they started with a single used automobile business, Fred Fincher Motors in 1959.  At the time of Pearl’s husband’s death in 1996, they had 15 automotive related business operated by their 9 children.

SPARK, Igniting Young Leaders Launch Event

The Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce hosted the SPARK, Igniting Young Leaders launch event at Brooklyn Athletic Club. Over 45 young leaders from different industries in Houston attended the launch event that featured lite bites, drinks, and Bocce ball games.
