5 Women Who Are Making NFL History

In honor of Super Bowl 51 knocking
on Houston’s door, we wanted to share some of the women who have been a part of
NFL’s journey to include diversity.

Jennifer Welter
(left) became the first woman to hold a coaching position of any kind in the NFL. The
Arizona Cardinals hired her as an inside linebackers’ coach after she worked
with them throughout training camp and the preseason.
Sarah Thomas was
the first woman to become an American football official. In April 2015, the
National Football League hired Thomas after she officiated many major college
football games, including a bowl game.
Erin
Andrews is an
American sportscaster and journalist who is an NFL sideline reporter for FOX
Sports. Andrews is admired by many young girls and has taught them that it is
not weird for females to understand and admire sports. Andrews just recently battled cervical cancer.
Kathryn Smith (below) always wanted to pursue a career in sports, and that goal translated to the historic move of becoming the first full-time female coach on an NFL staff in 2016.
Katherine "Katie" Blackburn is Executive Vice President of the Cincinnati Bengals, an American football team in the National Football League.
